Box Score

ARKADELPHIA, AR - After having Friday's game postponed due to weather, baseball officially kicked off their first of 3 games in the Henderson State Invitational Saturday night, playing host team Henderson State.

The Jets and Reddies have met only 1 previous time, a 2-11 Reddies win back in February of 2020.

In a low scoring affair, Henderson State would come out on top 4-2.

Garrett Vandeventer pitched 5 innings, striking out 5 and only giving up 1 earned run which came in the first inning. The Reddies took advantage of errors in the 4th inning to run their lead to 4-0.

The Jets would get 1 run back in the 8th with Jake Angelico scoring off a passed ball after walking to lead off the inning.

Newman tried to spark a comeback in the 9th inning down 4-1. Jason Schneider led off the inning with a triple to the right center gap and scored on a wild pitch. Jack Kiser got on base and Cullen Glosson singled to right field to bring the go ahead run up to bat but the Jets wouldn't get any further as Henderson State doubled up Newman to end the game.

6 different Jets had a hit in the game.

Newman will be right back in action tomorrow for a 2 game slate when they take on Oklahoma Baptist at 11 AM and Ouachita Baptist at 2:30 PM.
