MULVANE, KS - Dylan Sheler, Hunter Dietrich, Jace Fisher, Chris Mapp, JD Johnson, and Caleb Wunsch scored victories in a 30-15 win over Labette yesterday afternoon in the Battle of the Belt at Kansas Star Casino.

After reffing a few days ago, Sheler switched his referee jersey for a singlet and got things going right away for Newman, who was looking for its first dual victory since facing Cowley College. Sheler took the opening match by fall at 4:01.

The Cardinals tied things up, winning the next 2 matches at the 133 and 141 weight class by decision (2-1, 12-5).

The Jets took off, winning 4 of the next 5 matches to halt Labette in their tracks. 

Hunter Dietrich took down Labette's Trayvon Jackson in a close decision 4-3 to make it 9-6 Jets before Fischer defeated Labette's Jonathan Vincent by fall at 2:01.

Chris Mapp extended the Jets lead to 18-6 with an 8-2 decision and Mapp crushed the Labette spirit with another Jets fall, this time over Tony Connor at 2:37.

Labette would get 9 points late at the 184 and 285 weight class but Caleb Wunsch slammed the door on the Cardinals at the 197 weight class with another Jet fall at 0:31.

The Jets get momentum on their side as they look to make some noise heading into next Monday's dual at Central Missouri. The Jets and Mules are set to wrestle at 7:00 PM
