WICHITA - Baseball dropped the rubber match of the series vs UCO this afternoon, losing 11-6 after Central Oklahoma scored 6 unanswered runs in route to the series win.

6 different Jets accounted for 9 hits on the afternoon. Both teams combined for 12 runs in the first three innings.

UCO jumped out to an early 3-0 lead off starter
Nate Denniston. 3 singles caused the damage in the inning.

Jenner Steele hit his team leading 9th home run to tie the game. Steele hit an opposite field shot that hit the foul pile for a 3 run home run.

UCO scored the next 2 runs in the top of the 2nd inning and 3rd inning. A wild pitch by Newman and a home run by UCO's Lambert put the Bronchos up by 2 heading into the bottom half of the 3rd.

Hayden VanDePol flies out to right field to score Steele and
Jason Schneider scored a few moments later on a wild pitch.
Zack Stewart beat out a throw from left field to the plate to give Newman a 6-5 lead snd
Jack Kiser an RBI.

The Bronchos pitching staff held the Jets scoreless the rest of the way. The offense took advantage of Jet walks late in the game to leave McCarthy with a series win.

The loss put Newman 6-7 all time against the Bronchos.

Newman is back in action when Fort Hays State visits Wichita on Tuesday. First pitch is set for 3 PM.
