Jets end regular season strong, finish in 3rd place in the Big Red Classic

Lincoln, NE- Women's Bowling traveled to nearby Lincoln, Nebraska over the weekend for the last NCAA regular season event at the Big Red Invite. The Jets would get off to a slow start with a match 1 loss to Lincoln Memorial but would rally with 4 straight wins to end the day. Those wins came over Valpo, Quincy, #7 Youngstown State and #20 Wisconsin Whitewater to end day 1 4-1 and would be in 4th place in total pins.
The Jets began day 2 with another victory over Upper Iowa. They would then go up against #3 Nebraska and while the match was close the entire way,  the Cornhuskers would prevail 1063-1013.

Match 3 would be a matchup against #17 Central Missouri the Jets would fly by the Jennies with their best score of the season, 1185-929. NU then faced #4 Arkansas State and would fall 1123-1049. Newman would finish the day with a match 5 win and go 3-2 and 7-3 headed in to Sunday match play.

The Jets would average 215 on the day and be led by Freshman Kassidy Miller who averaged 229 and finished in 4th individually and would be selected to the All-Tournament Team and Allison Szewczyk who finished in 8th averaging 223.8. 


Newman headed into Sunday in 3rd place in total pins and would draw Central Missouri again for their first match on Sunday. The best of 7 match would go back and forth and would need a game 7 to determine the victory. NU would again finish strong winning game 7, 213-158.  The win set up the position round match with Wisconsin Whitewater. The Jets would come out fast and win the first 3 games but Whitewater would fight back to win the next two and make the match 3-2 in the best of 7.

Newman would have another close one in game six but squeak out a 203-197 game six to take the final match and finish in 3rd place.

The Jets would finish 9-3 on the weekend and finish the regular season and their first NCAA regular season 68-32  Newman heads to the USBC sectionals this weekend and then the GLVC conference championship March 23rd-26th.
