KANSAS CITY, Mo- The MIAA has named Jenner Steele as MIAA Hitter of The Week for his dominant performance this past week. Steele is the 3rd baseball player to earn AOTW honors from the MIAA.
Steele had a remarkable week, helping the Jets earn their first series win over Pitt State since the 2019 season and is leading the charge for the Jets in their postseason push as they wrap up their regular season play this upcoming weekend against Northeastern State in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
Jenner brought his average up to .417 after a 6-14 week that saw the senior from Branson, Missouri hit four home runs against Pittsburg State to finish the series with eight RBI's. Steele hit two home runs in game one, one home run in game two, and one home run in game three. The 2nd home run in game one was the deciding factor in the game, as it made it a 7-4 game from a 5-4 game, which the Jets would eventually win 7-6.
Steele is 1st in the MIAA in average (.417), 1st in OPS (1.299), 1st in total bags (153), 1st in slugging % (.818%), 2nd in hits (78), 2nd in home runs (19), and 3rd in OBP (.481) and RBI's (60).
Steele joins Jake Angelico and Garrett VanDeventer in earning MIAA AOTW honors this season. This is the 4th time this season a Jet has earned the award. VanDeventer won Pitcher of The Week honors twice this season.
After a huge series win at Pittsburg State, the Jets have put themselves in a great spot heading into the regular season finale in Tahlequah. One win puts the Jets in the MIAA tournament for the first time in program history.
