WICHITA - The women's soccer team returned to action on Thursday taking on the Central Oklahoma Bronchos.
The Jets were coming off a win in their last home game, defeating Northwestern Oklahoma State 2-1, but were unable to capitalize on the victory.
The Bronchos dominated possession and the run of play in the very early stages of the game, and their persistence wore off just minutes into the match. Three goals were scored in a little over five minutes, stunning the Jets.
Newman struggled to get shots on target in the first half, and although they would go on to get two in the second, it was too little too late.
UCO scored two goals in 90 seconds following several defensive miscues, giving the Bronchos a 5-0 lead.
The loss brings Newman to 1-4 on the season.
The Jets will be back at home on Sunday to take on Rogers State at 1 PM and will head on the road to Northeastern State and a return match at Rogers to end the non-conference schedule.
