LINCOLN, Neb. – Cross Country returned to action on Saturday, competing in the Woody Greeno Invite. The Jets were coming off an impressive outing at the JK Gold Classic, with the men finishing third and the women finishing second.
Reagan Longei broke the school record for the 6k at the JK Gold, and was looking for another impressive outing for the men.
In his second consecutive race, Longei set another school record, breaking the 8k record by 14 seconds, with a time of 25 minutes and 6 seconds. The record was held by Jacob Wallace with a record of 25 minutes and 19 seconds. He would also go on to finish 35th overall, in a race featuring 360 finishers.
Junior
Asher Brown also had an impressive race, with a time of 25 minutes and 20 seconds. His race time was the third fastest time for a Jet competing in the 8k.
The men would finish 17th overall, finishing in the middle of the pack against multiple Division I schools.
The women would finish in 18th place, finishing above Division II Rockhurst and Regis.
Six of the seven women ran faster times than their race at JK Gold.
The top finisher for the women was once again
Patricia Limo, finishing in 51st out of 305 runners.
Both men's and the women's teams will be back in action next Saturday, competing in Muthama-Rogers Invite in Newton, Kansas.
