HAYS, KS - The Jets opened the MIAA/GAC conference slate with a loss on the road at Fort Hays State. The Jets were coming off a draw at Southwest Baptist, with
Carlos Bellosta Manchon scoring his fifth goal of the season.
The Jets lone win last season came against Fort Hays, with Newman upsetting the #15 ranked Tigers 1-0 last October.
The Tigers controlled most of the offensive play, having 8 of their 20 shots hitting on target.
Juan Carlos Cordova had a busy evening, making six saves.
The Jets remained steadfast in defense for the first 45, but the Tigers would make the breakthrough in the second half.
The two goals from Fort Hays came within an eight minute span, a lead which the Tigers would not surrender.
The Jets also went down to ten men for the third time in four matches, when
Jonathan Garcia picked up his second yellow card of the match following a defensive tackle.
The Jets had several shots late on in the game, but it was not enough to overcome the deficit.
The Jets fall to 0-1 in conference play and 1-3-2 overall. Newman will be at home on Saturday, taking on #13 Rogers State at 1 PM.
