WICHITA - Men's Soccer returned home for their second conference game of the season in a losing effort to #13 Rogers State.
The Jets were defeated in the MIAA/GAC opener on Thursday, losing 2-0 to Fort Hays State on the road.
The Jets couldn't have asked for a better start, as
Alberto Romano scored just two minutes into the match. It was Romano's second goal of the season, giving the Jets their first lead at home since taking on Rockhurst earlier this month.
The advantage would not be one that the Jets would hold on to, as the Hillcats were able to score 3 before halftime. Despite the deficit, the Jets played a tough and physical game.
A brilliant performance from Marcos Vasallo was the difference in the matchup. Vasallo scored four goals in the game for Rogers State, inlcuding a first half hattrick.
Rogers continued the onslaught till the very end, winning by a wide margin of eight goals.
The Jets fought till the very end, not giving away any easy challenges, but the might of a nationally ranked opponent was too much to overcome for the young squad.
Newman will hit the road to Arkansas next week, taking on Harding on Thursday evening and Ouchita Baptist on Saturday morning.
