Meet me in St. Joe's (and Maryville)
Women's Basketball heads to the western part of Missouri, taking on the Griffons and Bearcats in what will be the toughest road test for the Jets this season.

Last Time Out
The Jets hosted Northeastern State for Newman's second home game of 2024. Coming off a close loss to Rogers State, the Jets were looking for a rebound win.

At one point, the RiverHawks held a double-digit lead, but the ladies chipped away at the deficit and tied the game up in the second quarter.

In the third quarter, the NSU lead continued to grow, but a late foul on a Monica Redondo three gave the Jets a boost that they would use to their advantage in the fourth quarter.

The lead was cut to just five points, while the Jets didn't allow a single point until almost the halfway point of the final quarter.

NSU would go on a late run and get the lead back, giving the Jets a 62-68 loss.
Recap | Box Score

Scouting the Squadron
The Jets fall to 1-9 in the MIAA following last weekend's games. However, Newman is still in touching distance of a conference tournament spot in the standings. Newman will consider themselves unlucky for not getting the win against the RiverHawks, as NSU is now in the midst of a three-game win streak, which is the second longest in the conference currently.

Behind Enemy Lines
The Griffon's are 11-4 overall, getting several wins over ranked or opponents receiving votes. Their latest win was over fourth place Northwest Missouri State last weekend.

Missouri Western is tied with four other teams in third place in the MIAA standings.

Northwest Missouri State is off to one of their best starts in recent memory, coming in with a 12-3 record. With only one loss coming at Bearcat Arena this season, Northwest looks like they have turned a corner in their program's fortunes.

The last time the two teams met was the Jets first MIAA tournament game in program history, which the Bearcats won.
The Series
Newman has never defeated the Griffons, with Missouri Western holding a 8-0 advantage in the series. The Jets are 0-4 all time on the road in St. Joe's.

Newman is also winless against Northwest Missouri State, going 0-5 against the Bearcats. The Jets have only traveled to Maryville one time since joining the MIAA, with games either being held in Wichita or Kansas City.

Upcoming Attraction
Newman will have its next three games at home, hosting Central Oklahoma, Missouri Southern and Pittsburg State.
