Searcy, Ark. -Newman played the Harding University Bisons in the first out of two games they will play in Arkansas this week. After a tough loss to the Rogers State Hillcats on Saturday afternoon, the Jets were looking to go back to winning ways. The Bisons, who haven't been able to win a game yet this season, attempted to achieve their first one. Newman came out on top with a 3-1 final score.
How It Happened:
- The Jets started the game very offensively, accumulating six shots in the first six minutes of the game.
- In the 9th minute, a good team recovery led to a free ball for Mario De Roque Zazon, who took the ball and dribbled at the Bisons' defense. A fantastic pass from De Roque left Alberto Romano by himself against the keeper. Continuing his great form, Romano found the back of the net, making it 1-0 for the Jets.
- Newman didn't stop there and continued looking for another goal, tallying another six shots before adding the second goal.
- Paulo Villalobos' effort inside of the box led the ball straight to Felipe Calderaro's foot. Without thinking it twice, Calderaro hit the ball to the low right side of the Bisons' goal, making that way the second goal for the Jets.
- The Jets led 17-2 in shots in the first half.
- A slow start from Newman in the second half saw the Bisons score off of a shot to the post and a save by Guilherme Borges.
- Despite the goal against, the Jets were able to control the game for most of the second half.
- In the 82nd minute, Paulo Villalobos crossed a perfect ball for Caio Tascheto to head in the goal for the third and final Jet goal in the match.
