WICHITA- Volleyball hosted the Jennies for the last match of the weekend. Last time out, the Jets fell just short in a closely contested match against the Lions of Missouri Southern. This time out, the Jets fell short 3-0 to a talented Central Missouri team who are receiving votes to be ranked in the top 25.
How It Happened:
-The Jets started off the first set strong with kills by
Hannah Tymitz and
McKenna Rhodes to get the offense going. With these kills and a service ace by
Brooklyn Lane, the Jets hopped out to a 3-0 lead. The Jennies pushed back with a 5-0 run to take the lead. A kill by Tymitz closed the gap to just two points at 7-5 in favor of the Jennies. The Jennies were able to find another run with a few aces in a row and four kills which extended their lead to 14-5.
Makenna Reinert tried to bring some energy into the Jets offense with a kill that made the score 14-7, but the Jets could never quite get going. The Jennies took set one, 25-15.
-Set two, the Jennies took their momentum from the set one win into the second set. Central Missouri went on a 7-3 to start the set. Kills by Reinert and
Madalyn Hoot helped the Jets close the game to an 8-7 game still in favor of the Jennies. Shortly after, the Jennies went on another run to extend their lead to 17-11. The Jets tried to rally back, but didn't have enough time. The Jets fell in set two, 25-13.
-The Jets and Jennies were trading off points until the 5-5 mark. After this, the Jennies went on a 6-0 lead to take control of the set at 11-5. A kill by Reinert stopped the Jennies run. However, the Jennies never let up and pushed their way to a 15-6 lead. The Jets offense came to life with kills from Meyer and
Camdyn Kindred to help the Jets close the gap to 16-11. Though the Jets made a run back, the Jennies found a way to extend their lead to 23-11. After this last run, it was too late for the Jets. The Jets fell 25-12.
-Central Missouri took the match, 3-0.
