Hays, Kan. -Newman traveled to Hays to face the Fort Hays State Tigers for their first and only match this week. The Jets played their third straight match away in a week. After losing to Ouachita Baptist on Saturday, the Jets were trying to change the momentum by getting a positive result. Fort Hays ended up taking the win 1-4.
How It Happened
- The first half started with Newman dominating the game and even attempting a shot close to the Tigers goal.Â
- In the 11th minute of the first half, a combination between Gabriel Dias Juliani and Gibran Villalobos led to a long shot taken by Miguel Silveira that got past the goalkeeper to record his first collegiate goal and the lead for the Jets.Â
- A minute later, Juliani attempted a shot on goal that was saved by FHSU's keeper.Â
- The remaining of the half was a back and fourth between both teams.Â
- The Jets held the Tigers down to zero shots in the first 45 minutes.Â
- Fort Hays came out in the second half wanting to prove a point. Only two minutes into the second half,  and in only their second shot of the match, the Tigers scored and tied the game.Â
- Five minutes later, FHSU recorded two consecutive goals in the same minute to take a 3-1 lead and complete a come back in 8 minutes.Â
- In the 56th minute, the Tigers scored the fourth and last goal of the game.
- The Jets attempted three shots but they weren't enough to get past the Tigers goal keeper for a second time.Â
