Last Time Out
The Jets defeated non-conference opponent William Jewell in four sets. The Jets dominated set one and two to take the early 2-0 set lead on the Cardinals. The Cardinals then bounced back to win the third set to push a fourth set. The Jets took care of business in the fourth set to down the Cardinals. With this win, the Jets went 2-0 in home non-conference contests.

Scouting the Jets (UPDATE FOR NEXT RELEASE)
-Ozioma Ajekwu leads the offense with 160 kills so far this season. Ajekwu is currently hitting a .346 hitting %.
-McKenna Rhodes has also been big for the Jets offense with 113 kills.
-Natalie Meyer leads the Jets on the defensive end of the ball with 41 blocks. 
-Natalie Trigo leads the back row with 256 digs. 
 
Behind Enemy Lines
Washburn is coming off of two losses to start off their 2024 MIAA campaign. They matched up with Northwest Missouri first where they dropped the match, 2-3. Then traveled to Missouri Western (RV) where they dropped the match 2-3 as well. Prior to their two losses, the Ichabods found themselves ranked in the top 25. The Jets are set to face the Gorillas of Pittsburg State on October 3rd before matching up with the Jets on October 4th.

Emporia State dropped their first MIAA match to Missouri Western, who was receiving votes prior to this week, 0-3. The Hornets then traveled to Northwest Missouri where they found their first MIAA win of the season, 3-1. The Hornets will face Pittsburg State on October 4th before matching up with the Jets on October 5th.
 
The Series
The Jets and Ichabods have met up 11 times. The Ichabods lead the series, with a perfect record against the Jets. The Jets will look to end the streak. 
 
Newman and Emporia State have had 16 matchups since 2009. The Hornets lead the series at 11-5. The Jets last beat the Hornets in 202 with a four set win. 
 
Next Up
The Jets will return home next week for a full week of MIAA play. The Jets will face Pittsburg State on October 8th at 6 PM. Then on October 11th and 12th they will host Missouri Southern State and Central Missouri for Newman Alumni Weekend.
