Jets fall to the Ichabods on the road

Volleyball drops three sets to Washburn

TOPEKA, Kan.- The Jets traveled to Washburn for their third conference game of the season. Last time out, the Jets won their last non-conference match up against William Jewell, 3-1. This time out, Newman fell to Washburn in three sets. 

How It Happened:
- In the first set of the match, the Ichabods jumped out to a 4-0 lead. A kill by Natalie Meyer got the Jets on the board but the Ichabods were able to go on another run to take the early lead 7-1. The Jets rallied together a few points with kills by Ajekwu to close the gap to 9-4. However, the Ichabods were able to put together another run that closed out the set. Ajekwu tallied four kills in the first set to lead the Jets. The Jets fell, 25-12. 

- The Ichabods went on a 4-1 run to start the set. Kills from Meyer and Ajekwu got the Jets back in it with a kill a piece. With the score at 5-4, the Ichabods found themselves on a run that extended their lead to 14-6. After this run, the Jets were unable to close that gap and dropped the set, 25-14. Camdyn Kindred and Ajekwu led the offense with three kills a piece in the set. 
- The Jets tried to battle back in the third set, battling back and forth until the score was 8-5 when the Ichabods took the momentum and went on a run to extend their lead to 17-5. After this large deficit, the Jets didn't have time to close the gap. Ajekwu led the Jets offense in the third set with three kills. The Jets dropped set three, 25-10. 
- The Jets fell to the Ichabods, 3-0. 

Player Notes:
- Natalie Trigo led the Jets defense with 13 digs. 

- Ajekwu led the Jets offense with 10 kills. 

 The Jets will head to Emporia to face the Hornets on Saturday at 7 PM.
