WICHITA- The Jets hosted the Rogers State Hillcats on Saturday afternoon in a battle between the first and second ranked GAC teams. After a dominant 5-1 win over the Northeastern State RiverHawks on Thursday evening, Newman came with confidence to the matchup. The Hillcats were coming off of a 1-0 victory over the Fort Hays State Tigers on Thursday evening. Rogers State took home the win with a 1-4 final score.
How It Happened:
- The first half started with both teams going at each other and testing the goal keepers with multiple shots. Each team took at least four shots before the first goal was scored.
- The Hillcats scored in the 22nd minute after a quick counter attack finished with Louis Bassett finding the back of the net.
- The Jets tried to level it up with two shots on goal but it wasn't enough to get past the Hillcats goal keeper.
- With two minutes left in the first half, RSU added a second goal after another accurate counter attack.
- In the 60th minute, Louis Bassett scored his second of the day with a long shot from outside of the box.
- Three minutes later, Alberto Romano brought the difference back to two goals with a great header off of a nice cross by Gustavo Dias Juliani.
- Newman's hope for a comeback faded after RSU was awarded a penalty kick in the 75th minute. They scored it, leaving a final 1-4 score.

The Jets will travel to Arkansas to face Harding and Ouachita on Thursday evening and Saturday afternoon.
