WICHITA- Men's Basketball hosted their second home game of the week. On Wednesday, the Jets dominated Tabor for a big win at 108-51. Today, against Kansas Christian, the Jets dominated coming out on top at 95-68.
How it Happened:
-In the first four minutes of play, the Jets were able to take the lead at 13-7.
Sam Somerhalder scored the first four points for the Jets.
Devin Walker and
Isaiah Elmore got in the action on the offensive end to help secure the early lead.
Jayden Schoen added a three for the Jets to push the lead to nine.
Thatcher McClure hit his fifth point of the day with a three that put the Jets up double digits at 21-9. A strong offensive rebound put back by
Aaron Murphy put the Jets at their biggest lead with a 12 point lead. After the media timeout, the Jets struggled to take care of the ball on the offensive end which allowed the Falcons to cut into the Jets lead. At the seven minute mark, the Falcons found themselves within eight points. An and one by
Aime Rutayisire put the game back at double digits in favor of the Jets. After the media timeout at the five minute mark, the Jets started to pull away. Two layups by Somerhalder and a three by
Boston Stanton III put the Jets up 47-29 with just under two minutes left in the half. Somerhalder later laid in a fast break layup to secure his tenth point of the half. Going into the break, the Jets had the lead at 53-34. In the first half, Somerhalder led the Jets with ten points. Murphy tallied seven with four rebounds.
Jaden Gales added six points with four rebounds.Â
-Out of the break, Elmore kicked off the Jets offense with a dunk. A few possessions later, Elmore added another bucket, for his eighth point of the day. Walker scored the next two possessions to make it 61-36. Somerhalder found Rutayisire and Stanton III on back to back possessions for his sixth assist of the game, making the deficit 67-42 with 15 minutes left to play. Buckets by
Sam Medalie and Rutasyisire pushed the Jets out to 71-42. The Falcons tried to stay in the game, but the Jets weren't allowing much on the Falcons offensive end. Walker hit his tenth point with just under 11 minutes to play to make it a 76-48 ball game. The Falcons put a small run together to close the deficit to 78-57 with seven minutes to play. Rutayisire added his 11th point with a layup with under seven to go. McClure was able to earn a trip to the free throw line to put the Jets up 82-57. McClure was then able to slam down an offensive rebound to add to his game total and keep the Jets offense rolling. Murphy added two more on the next possession. Medalie connected with a three with two minutes left to extend the lead. The Jets closed out the game with a 95-68.
