Hot shooting by the Bison leads to Jets loss

Men’s Basketball falls to Oklahoma Baptist

WICHITA- The Jets hosted Oklahoma Baptist for their first ever match up. The Jets fell, 87-70.

How it Happened:
- In the first half, the Jets started off with a 4-0 run. A three pointer by Ricky Brown stopped the Jets run. The Bison took the lead with a layup the next possession. A three by Jordan Glenn-Hawkins re-took the lead at 8-7. The Bison then went on a strong run to take their lead to 15-8. A layup by Aaron Murphy stopped the Bison lead, but the next possession Terry Coner Jr. connected with a jumper to keep the Bison offense hot. Devin Walker and Murphy both added two free throws a piece to get the Jets within three. Murphy hit a three to then tie it on the next Jets possession at 17 all. The Bison then went on another run to take the lead at 28-17 with seven minutes left in the half. A Jaden Gales three stopped the run, but the Bison hit a three right back on the Jets to keep the deficit at 11. The Bison hit another three, but Jayden Schoen hit one right back. After the final media timeout of the half, Sam Somerhalder connected with his fifth point of the day to make it a 34-25 game. The Bison extended their lead to 42-28 with 1:24 left in the half. The Jets then scored five unanswered points to make it a 42-33 game at the half in favor of the Bison. 
- In the second half, Jordan Glenn-Hawkins got the Jets offense going with a three to start the half. Glenn-Hawkins scored his 14th point with 17:40 to go to get the game within seven points. Somerhalder added a layup to cut the deficit to just five. The Bison continued to fight and be physical to put the Bison back up by seven. Somerhalder answered with a two to cut it to 47-42 going into the first media timeout of the second half. After the first media, the Bison continued their hot shooting taking the game to 55-44. A three by Murphy helped the Jets keep momentum going on the offensive end. Ethan Scott of the Bison hit his 19th point on the night to take the Bison to 62-49 with 12 minutes to play. The Bison continued to score, Scott of the Bison added his 21st point off of free throws with under 11 minutes to play. Thatcher McClure hit his first three of the night to cut the deficit to 67-53. After this bucket by McClure, the Bison were able to extend their lead to 73-53 with under nine to play. McClure stopped the run with his seventh point, but the Bison continued to hit their shots. With six and a half to play, the Bison were leading 80-56. The Jets started to get hot on the offensive end with layups by Murphy and Somerhalder, but the Bison continued to keep the Jets at a distance. Heading into the final media timeout, the Bison were on top 86-64. With under a minute left Boston Stanton III and Murphy added points but it was too late in the contest to close the gap. The Bison took the game, 87-70. 

Player Notes:
- Murphy led the way with 18 points, going 7-10 from the field with 2-4 from the three. 
- Glenn-Hawkins added 16, 3-6 from the three point line.
- The Bison shot 40% from the three and 44.4% from the field.
