WARRENSBURG, Mo.- The Jets traveled to Central Missouri to compete in the UCM Open. The Jets placed nine:
Jevin Foust (5th place), Fisher (1st place), Wunsch (3rd place), Freeman (5th place),Newcomb (6th place), Moses (4th place), Kegley (6th Place), Donigian (5th Place), Gomez (1st place).
Elite Results: Four Placers
Dylan Sheler (125 lb)
Sheler fell in the quarterfinals to Shelton Chastain (Ozarks) by decision at 6-7. Then in round one of the consolation bracket, Sheler lost by technical fall (21-5).
Jevin Foust (133 lb): 5th Place
Foust received a bye in the first round. In the quarterfinal, Foust won by medical forfeit over Quincy wrestler Isaac Vourge. Foust then dropped his semifinal match to Jason Henschel of Central Oklahoma. This loss pushed him to the consolation semifinal where he lost by decision to Paul Ruff of Central Missouri. Foust then wrestled in the 5th place match where he won by decision at 16-10 to earn 5th place.
Colby Schreiner (149 lb)
In the first round Schreiner received a bye. In the second round, Schreiner won by fall. In the quarterfinal, Schreiner lost by decision at 5-12. This loss pushed him to round four of the consolation bracket where he won by major decision at 12-4. In the 5th round of consolation, Schreiner lost by major decision to Jp Homfeld of Maryville at 0-12.
Hunter Dietrich (157 lb)
In the first round, Dietrich lost by major decision at 2-11. Then, in round one of consolation, he lost by fall against Michael Roberts of Westminster.
Jace Fisher (165 lb): 1st Place
Fisher received a bye in the first round. In the second round, he won by technical fall over Jackson Jones of Quincy at 19-4. He then won by technical fall in the quarterfinals with a score of 15-0. In the semifinal, Fisher won by decision at 7-2. In the finals, Fisher won by major decision at 11-0 over Anthony Erickson of Central Missouri to take first place at 165 lbs.
Skyler Geer (165 lb)
Geer received a bye in the first round. He then lost by major decision in the second round at 4-16. In round two of consolation, Geer received a bye. Then in the third round, he won by technical fall at 16-1. In the next round, Geer won by fall over James Smith of Quincy. Round five of the consolation bracket went to Jackson Wilkins of NEO who won by decision over Geer at 10-3.
Erik Tomanek (197 lb)
Tomanek received a first round bye. In the second round, he lost by fall. In round two of the consolation bracket, Tomanek received a bye. He then went on to win round three with a win by decision at 7-2. In the fourth round of consolation, Tomanek lost by technical fall (3-18).
Caleb Wunsch (285 lb): 3rd Place
In the first round, Wunsch received a bye. In the quarterfinals, Wunsch won by fall over a Central Missouri opponent. In the semifinal, Wunsch lost by major decision at 6-15. Then in the consolation semifinals Wunsch won over Newman teammate, Freeman. This win put Wunsch in the 3rd place match where he won by fall over another Central Missouri opponent which clinched 3rd Place.
De'Leon Freeman (285 lb): 5th Place
Freeman received a bye for the first round. In the quarterfinal, Freeman lost by fall against Torin Forsyth of Central Missouri. Freeman then received a bye in the second round of consolation. In the third round, he won by medical forfeit. Then, in the consolation semifinals he fell to his teammate Wunsch. This loss pushed him to the 5th place match. Freeman took the match to secure 5th place after his opponent forfeited.
Amateur Results: Five Placers
Jaxson Newcomb (133 lb): 6th place
In the first round Newcomb received a bye. In the second round, Newcomb lost by decision at 9-3. This loss pushed him to the consolation bracket. In the second round of consolation, Newcomb took the win by technical fall at 16-1. Then in the third round, he won by fall over Missouri Valley opponent. In the fourth round, Newcomb won by decision over Newman teammate Keton PAtteron with a 7-1 win. In the fifth round, Newcomb won by major decision at 11-2 to put himself in the semifinals. In the semifinals, Newcomb lost by fall to Michael Martin of Missouri Valley. Then in the fight place match, Newcomb lost by no contest, securing 6th place.
Keton Patterson (133 lb)
Patterson received a first round bye. In the second round, Patterson won by technical fall at 19-3. In the quarterfinal Patterson lost by decision at 10-16. This pushed Patterson to the consolation fourth round where he faced his teammate Newcomb. In the match against Newcomb, Patterson lost by decision at 1-7.
Kaven Bartlett (133lb)
In the first round, Bartlett won by decision (3-0) over Robert Ramsey of Ottawa. In the second round, Bartlett lost by technical fall which pushed him to the consolation bracket. In the second round of consolation, Bartlett won by fall over Seriah Hall-Brown of Avila. He then won his third round match by decision at 1-0. In the fourth round, his opponent forfeited allowing him to reach the fifth round of consolation. In the fifth round, Bartlett lost by decision at 4-2.
Trent Moses (141 lb): 4th place
Moses started off his day with a win by major decision at 15-7. In the second round, Moses was able to take the win by decision at 8-4. Then in the quarterfinal, Moses lost by fall pushing him to the consolation bracket. In the fourth round of consolation, Moses won by major decision at 16-4. Then in the fifth round of consolation he won by technical fall at 23-8. In the semifinal, Moses won again by technical fall at 16-0. Then in the third place match, Moses lost by no contest which secured him 4th place.
Bryce Kegley (149 lb): 6th Place
Kegley received a first round bye. In the second round he won by fall over (0:45). Then in the quarterfinal, Kegley lost by fall pushing him to consolation round four. In round four, Kegley won by fall (0:34). He then won by fall (2:10) in the fifth round of consolation. In the semifinals of consolation, Kegley lost by decision at 5-11. This secured him 6th place.
Dane Donigian (184 lb): 5th Place
In the first round, Donigian received a bye. Then in the quarterfinal, Donigian won by fall over Ozark's opponent (2:57). In the semifinal, Donigian lost by major decision to a Central Missouri opponent which pushed him to the consolation semifinals. In the semifinals, Donigian lost by fall. In the fifth place match, Donigian beat his Quincy opponent by major decision at 15-1 to secure fifth place.
Rio Gomez (285 lb): 1st place
In the first round, Gomez won by decision at 5-4. Then in the second round, he won by fall (2:30) over Carl Albert opponent. In the quarterfinals, Gomez won by technical fall at 17-2. In the semifinals, Gomez won by fall (1:19) to Jude Beers of NEO, securing his spot in the first place match. Gomez won by decision over Oliver Cooley of Marvyille at 7-3 to secure 1st place.
The Jets return on December 6th against Central Oklahoma at 7 PM.
