Newman was coming off of a 1-3 loss to the Fort Hays State Tigers on Thursday evening. SNU didn't play on Thursday. How It Happened
- The first half started with a shot by Mario De Roque Zazon in the first minute of the match that barely missed the goal high. That shot was followed by four attempts by the Crimson Storm on Juan Carlos Cordova's goal. Nicolo Lai had the first shot on SNU's goal by a Jet in the seventh minute. Both teams ended the half with 3 shots on goal but none were accurate enough to get past the goalkeepers. The Crimson Storm out shot the Jets 16-8 in the half. Nicolo Lai and Alberto Romano led the Jets offense with 2 shots. Juan Carlos Cordova tallied 4 saves.Â
- The second half had the same rhythm as the first one for the most part, with both teams possessing and having sporadic shots. In the 80th minute, Lucas Beja had a big chance to score with Cordova out of the goal, but his shot was blocked by Newman's defense. In the last 10 minutes of the match, the Crimson Storm saw their regular season title slip away and started making a bigger effort on offense. With 6 minutes left in the game, Alex Agurcia was able to get past Cordova to give SNU the lead. A minute later, Lucas Beja added a second goal for the home side to secure Southern Nazarene's win and regular season title.Â
