MULVANE, Ks. - Newman Wrestling picked up two dual wins on Saturday afternoon, taking on local rivals Labette Community College and Friends University. 

These duals took place at a neutral site in Mulvane where the Jets won both duals. 

The dual against Labette was close, while the Friends dual was dominated by the Jets.



Dual 1: Labette CC

The first dual for the Jets did not get off to the best start, as the team lost two close contests via decision. The two contests were divided by a combined five points. 

The Jets then picked up from the setback, with Colby Schreiner and Jevin Foust picking up two wins. Foust got a huge six points for the Jets winning by fall, while Schreiner got on the better end of a contest ending in a decision. 

Jace Fisher continued his undefeated dual record this season, winning by tech fall in dominant fashion. The dual win was Fisher's fifth of the season. 

Rio Gomez would win the dual for the Jets, as he won the afternoon's final contest to give the Jets a 23-19 victory.

Dual 2: Friends University 

The Jets once again got off to a slower start, but still secured a fall victory thanks to Colin Creach. 

Despite dropping three of the first four contests, the Jets would win three straight to give Newman a big advantage. 

Bryce Kegley, Fisher and Chris Mapp picked up the three straight wins, with Fisher picking up a fall victory. Kegley and Mapp won via decision. 

Erik Tomanek and De'Leon Freeman won the final two contests of the day, both of them picking up fall victories to give the Jets twelve more points. 

The Jets won the second dual of the day, 31-13.

Wrestling will compete in another two dual day next Friday, as they head to Springfield, Missouri to take on Ouachita Baptist and Drury.
