Jets off to tough series start at Southeastern Oklahoma

DURANT, Okla. - Baseball got off to a slow start in their weekend series with Southeastern Oklahoma on Friday, not generating much offense in the first game of the series.

The Jets got a majority of their offense in the first inning, with a Trent Trammell single giving the Jets their first hit of the day.

The game was scoreless through the first few innings of the game, as Cole Landgraf produced several good innings of work. In the bottom of the first, he struck out a batter, while the other two grounded out to second base.

Hunter Brown got in the best scoring position for Newman, after stealing third base in the second inning. He unfortunately would be one of several runners left on base in positions to score.

The Savage Storm would make the breakthrough first, and it seemed for a while that they could only score off of home runs, as nine of their runs came from bombs into the outfield.

The Jets would continue to get into scoring positions, but they would all come from walked batters. Newman had plenty of discipline at the plate, but couldn't convert any of these opportunities into runs.

The Storm would get a shutout win over the Jets, 13-0.

Newman has a chance to get the series win tomorrow, with a double header beginning at 11 AM tomorrow.
