WICHITA - Newman Baseball had a slow start against Central Missouri on Friday, not being able to generate much offense until late in the game.
The Jets had scored ten runs the previous day against the Mules, but would be unable to hit the highs in game two.
Connor Rowe disposed of the first two batters with ease in the first inning, as it looked like the two ball clubs might be in a tight contest. However, an explosion of Mules offense in the first three innings put the game far out of reach despite a promising start.
Nick Baba would get his first home run of the season in the fifth, as a two RBI bomb gave the Jets their first two runs of the day.
Will Bomersbach would get a third run coming off of a wild pitch in the sixth, while
Nick Chasey would get another shortly afterwards off a sacrifice flyout.
The bottom of the seventh was Newman's best inning of the afternoon, scoring three runs.
Baba would score his second of the game in the inning, while a Jase Schneider single with the bases loaded scored two more. Despite a late surge of impressive offense, the Jets were unable to take one off of the Mules.
Baba and Schneider each had two RBIs, while Bomersbach had two hits and two runs.
The Jets will finish the series tomorrow afternoon, with the final game beginning at 1 p.m. tomorrow.
