DETROIT, Mich. - The National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) announced its End of Season Awards on Thursday. Freshman, Alexis Shea was selected as the Division II Rookie of the Year by NCAA member coaches.

The awards feature entire lists of All-American student-athletes, players, rookies and coaches of the year. Alexis Shea was voted the Division II Rookie of the Year after being named second-team Great Lakes Valley Conference. Shea was left off the ballots of GLVC coaches for GLVC Rookie of the Year, despite the qualifications and resume of a deserving selection for the conference award.

The Jets' season came to a close at the GLVC tournament as they fell in a second consecutive trip to the conference finals. At the conclusion of play in Warrensburg, Shea and teammate Kassidy Miller were names to the All-Tournament team.

The DII Rookie of the Year award for Shea is the first of its kind for an individual at Newman.
