Games 48-50
vs. Emporia State 19-28 (9-21 MIAA) – 3 Games
Friday, April 26 – Saturday, April 28 | Trusler Sports Complex | Emporia, KS

All Things Must Pass
This weekend's series against Emporia State will be the final regular season series of the year, with it being one of the most important series in the conference this weekend. Both teams can still make the MIAA tournament, but a sweep and some results from around the Association could go miles for the Jets.
Schedule UpdateÂ
A doubleheader has now been scheduled for Friday evening due to inclement weather conditions. Game one will begin at 4 p.m. The third and final game is now scheduled for Monday, with an 11 a.m. start.Â
Last Time Out
Hosting Pittsburg State for the home finale, the Jets celebrated 13 seniors prior to final home game of the year.
Colby Wilson had one of his best outings of the season, striking out eight batters in five innings of work. His efforts helped keep the Jets within a touching distance of the lead through the five innings.Â
The Jets couldn't find the offense that they have been known for this season, as they would not get a man on base until the fourth inning when seniorÂ
Jason Schneider was walked.Â
Joe Kinneberg followed in the inning with one of two hits in his final home game, but other than this Newman was rather quiet.Â
Most of Newman's looks from the plate didn't make it past the infield, and it wasn't until the later innings that they would get some looks in the outfield.Â
A three RBI home run from Pittsburg State in the eighth dampened any hopes of a Newman comeback, as they would get a rare shutout over a usually hard hitting Newman offense.Â

MIAA Standings
The top of the standings in the MIAA remains mostly unchanged. After a series win last weekend however, the Central Missouri Mules won the outright regular season crown this past weekend.
Central Oklahoma, Pittsburg State and Washburn will duke it out this weekend to see how will be placed three through five, with the five seed having to go on the road to play the four seed in the first round. However, the Bronchos and Gorillas both hold a two game lead over the Ichabods and at least one win by both teams this weekend will crush any dreams the Ichabods have of a top four seed.
The log jam at the bottom has cleared a bit more, but every team is still alive and kicking.
Fort Hays State, Northwest Missouri State and Northeastern State all have the clearest paths based on their record and standing. However, the three aforementioned teams in the previous paragraph will all play these three teams fighting for their postseason lives. It is possible that if all three where to be swept and Newman takes care of business in Emporia, that the Jets could have the last laugh.
Current Standings
- Central Missouri (41-5, 27-3)
- Missouri Southern (36-11, 23-7)
- Central Oklahoma (34-11, 20-10)

The Enemy Dugout
Emporia State has been hot on the heels of Newman for some time this season, with the top having a bit of a dug over war in league placement these past few weeks.
The Hornets have lost three of their last four, but have managed to pick up wins the past several weeks over #2 Central Missouri, Pittsburg State and Washburn to give them a chance at the eight seed.
The Series (All Time)
The Hornets lead the all time series 21-8. The Jets did win the series last season, winning the last two games of the series last April. The Jets are 3-10 all time on the road at ESU, with their last win coming in April of 2022.
What's Next?
If the Jets survive and advance to fight another day, they will be hitting the road for a first round matchup, most likely at Central Missouri or Missouri Southern.
