LAKEWOOD, Colo.- Men's Soccer wrap up non-conference play in Colorado against Western Oregon. The Jets are coming off of an impressive offensive outing against Saint Martin's where they scored four goals to take the win, 4-0. Western Oregon took the match up, 3-1.
How It Happened:
- In the first half of play, the Jets gave up a quick goal in the 5th minute to the Wolves. The Wolves had the early lead, 1-0. The Wolves struck again ten minutes later to extend their lead to 2-0. In the 31st minute, Gabriel Dias Juliani found the back of the net to cut the deficit to one. With 45 seconds left in the first half, the Jets had a great shot on goal but the Wolves goalie made the save, sending the Jets down one heading into halftime. The Jets out shot the Wolves, 6-2 (3-2 on goals) and had four chances from the corner in the half.
- The second half was an even game. The Jets had many chances on goal, out shooting the Wolves 10-8 with three corners in the half, but couldn't find the net on those chances. With seven minutes left to play, Juan Carlos Cordova was able to make three saves in a row to keep it a one goal game. With two minutes left in the game, the Jets had a chance to even the score by a shot from Tomas Melon, but the ball was saved by the keeper of Western Oregon. In the 88th minute, the Wolves were awarded a penalty kick. Navarro of Western Oregon was able to find the net on the penalty to extend their lead to two goals with a minute left to play. The Jets ran out of time to come back. Newman fell short, 3-1.
