Edmond, Okla. -The Jets traveled to Oklahoma to face one of the toughest opponents in the country, the No. 13 UCO Bronchos. Newman was coming back from their first home win of the season, after coming back from a set down to beat SBU 3-1 on Tuesday afternoon. The Bronchos had swept nine out of their thirteen opponents so far this season and were looking to add another sweep to their tally. Central Oklahoma showed why they are one of the best teams in the country taking the match in three sets.
How it happened:
- The Jets were outmatched in the first set of the match by a very powerful UCO offense. The Bronchos had a hitting average of .524 and tallied four service aces. Newman was able to score double digit points but it wasn't enough to get close to UCO, finishing the set 10-25.
- Newman got better in the second set and came out with a different mentality, but multiple attacking errors deprived the Jets the chance to compete for the set. The Bronchos took the second set 12-25.
- In the last set of the match, the Jets were able to get closer to the Bronchos. Despite losing it 14-25, Newman had their best hitting percentage, and the fewest errors in the match.
