OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla.- Men's Soccer traveled to Oklahoma to face the Oklahoma Christian Eagles for their first match of the 2024 campaign. The match was as close as they get, with both teams taking the lead at different points in the game. The Eagles were able to stay ahead at the end, claiming that way their first win of the season.
Newman started the first half strong with two early shots from
Nicolo Lai and a couple more dangerous attempts from
Mario De Roque Zazon.
At the end of a very close and disputed first half, a superb free kick goal from
Felipe Calderaro gave the Jets their first lead and goal of the season. With only five seconds left in the first half, the Eagles were able to equal the score with a quick set piece.
The second half was as close as the first, with only the Eagles getting on the score board this time. The Jets battled, totaling seventeen shots in the game and seven on target, but it wasn't enough to claim their first points of the season.
The Jets will be back to action on Saturday, September 7th at 1:00 PM hosting Southwest Baptist for their first home game of the season.
