WICHITA- The Jets hosted the Southwest Baptist Bearcats for the 2024 home opener. Two goals by the Jets secured the draw against the Bearcats, 2-2.
 
How It Happened:
- In the first half the Bearcats struck first in the 7th minute to take the lead 1-0.
- Newman kept fighting and eventually struck back in the 18th minute with a goal by Lexi Bauer from outside the box, who was assisted by Allison Hernandez.
- The Jets took the game into halftime with a 1-1 tie. The Jets outshout the Bearcats in the first half with four shots earning two corner kicks. 
- The Bearcats came out of the second half and scored in the 58th minute. Through the 73rd minute the Bearcats had the lead until Marta Aranda headed in the ball to re-tie the game at 2-2.
- Though the Jets held most of the possession in the game, both teams were held scoreless in the last 17 minutes to result in a draw, giving each team their first point of the season. The Jets outshout the Bearcats again in the second half with six shots earning two corner kicks.

Player Notes:
- Aranda scores her first goal of the season.
- Bauer earns her first goal as a Jet.
- Hernandez tallied two assists, her career high, to set up Bauer and Aranda for their goals. 
 
Newman will be back in action on September 12th at 5 PM taking on the Missouri-St. Louis on the road.
