Jets place six at the Jet Open

Wunsch and Fisher both take first place

WICHITA- Wrestling hosted the Jet Open for their first home tournament of the season. The Jets placed six in the tournament. Jace Fisher and Caleb Wunsch both took first place. Dylan Sheler took third place. Kaven Bartlett, Trent Moses, and Chris Mapp brought in fourth-place finishes.

Dylan Sheler (125lb): 3rd Place

In the first round, Sheler received a bye. Then in the quarterfinal, Sheler lost by major decision (13-4) to a Drury opponent. This loss pushed Sheler to the consolation bracket. In the second round of consolation, Sheler received a bye. In the next round, he won by major decision over Jimmy Wenson of Cowley College (16-3). Then in the semifinal of consolation, Sheler won by technical fall over Jeffri Juanes (18-3). Sheler took the third place match with a win by decision over Logan Crawford of Northeast Oklahoma. 

Keton Patterson (133 lb)

In the quarterfinal, Patterson's first round, he received a bye. Then in the semifinal, Patterson forfeited due to injury. 

Kaven Bartlett (133 lb): 4th Place

Bartlett's first round was the quarterfinal where he lost to Cam Kiser of Cowley College by decision (2-0). This loss pushed Bartlett to the consolation bracket. In the first round of consolation, Bartlett received a bye. Then in the semifinals of consolation, Bartlett won by injury default. In the third-place match, Bartlett lost by decision at 9-7. 

Trent Moses (141 lb): 4th Place

In the first round, Moses won by fall over a Northeast Oklahoma opponent (3:11). Then in the quarterfinal, Moses took his match by fall (4:26) against Jaxson Humphries of Drury. Then in the semifinal, Moses lost by fall to Hunter Bogner (unattached). This pushed Moses to the consolation semifinals where he won by fall (1:24) to Nathan Wishne of Drury. This win punched his ticket to the third-place match where he would go on to place fourth after a loss by decision (19-13). 

Colby Schreiner (149 lb)

In the first round, Schreiner received a bye. Then in the quarterfinal Schreiner lost to Gavin Montgomery by fall (1:31). This pushed Schreiner to the consolation bracket. In the second round of consolation, Schreiner won by fall against Matthew Cook of Barton (2:22). Then in round three of consolation, Kolton Field beat Schreiner by Decision at 9-8. 

Hunter Dietrich (157 lb)

In the first round, Dietrich received a bye. Then in the quarterfinal, Dietrich lost by fall (4:44) to Zach Dawson of Northeast Oklahoma. This pushed Dietrich to the second round of consolation where he won by major decision over teammate Skyler Geer (21-8). Then in the third round of consolation, Dietrich won by fall over Logan Sell of Friends (3:50). In the semifinals of consolation Dietrich lost by fall (5:20) to Wyatt Bahm of Pratt CC.

Skyler Geer (157 lb)

Geer lost by decision to Wyatt Bahm in his first round (7-4). Then in the consolation round one, Geer received a bye. Geer then faced fellow teammate Hunter Dietrich in round two of consolations, where Dietrich took the win by major decision (21-8).

Jace Fisher (165 lb): 1st Place

Fisher went undefeated in his matches to take first place. First, he won by fall over Joe Beck of Durry (1:45). Then in the quarterfinal, Fisher won by technical fall over Cesar Morales of Cowley (18-0). Fisher won by major decision (15-5) over Luke Barker of North Dakota State in the semifinals to punch his ticket to the finals. In the finals, Fisher won by technical fall over Will Kuster of Drury (21-6). 

Chris Mapp (174 lb): 4th Place

Mapp dropped his first-round match to a Pratt CC opponent by decision at 6-5. This pushed Mapp to the first round of consolation where he received a bye. In the second round of consolation, Mapp won by technical fall at 21-5. Then in the third round, Mapp took another win by technical fall over Brayden Meredith of Cowley College at 17-3. Mapp then won his third straight in the semifinals of consolation with a win by technical fall (19-3). This punched his ticket to the third-place match where he lost by major decision to Jeremiah Halter of Drury at 13-3. 

Dane Donigian (174 lb)

Donigian's first round was the quarterfinals where he lost by major decision to Tristan Staat of Drury at 10-1. In the first round of consolation, Donigian received a bye. In the semifinals, Donigian ended his day with a loss by fall to Brannigan Reyes of Cowley.

Caleb Wunsch (285 lb): 1st Place

Wunsch went undefeated on the day to take first place in 285 lb. In the first round, Wunsch won by fall (1:09) against his Barton opponent. Then in the quarterfinal, Wunsch won by fall (3:50) to Briar Goodwin of Northeast Oklahoma. In the semifinal round, Wunsch dominated with a win by technical fall at 15-0. In the final Wunsch took on James Bankston of Pratt CC. Wunsch defeated Bankston by decision of 5-1 to take first place. 

De'Leon Freeman (285 lb)

Freeman started his day with a loss to Jude Beers of Northeast Oklahoma (Fall 1:47). Then in consolation round one, Freeman won by fall over teammate Rio Gomez at 4:06. Freeman then faced Briar Goodwin of Northeast Oklahoma where he lost by fall (2:45) in round two of consolation to end his tournament. 

Erik Tomanek (197 lb)

In the first round, Tomanek lost by decision to Nicholas Martinez of Colby Community College at 4-0. Then in the first round of consolation, Tomanek won by decision (6-2) against Jacob Acedo of Cowley. In the second round, Tomanek won by fall over Chase Baker of Friends at 6:52. Then in the third round Tomanek finished his day with a loss by technical fall to a Barton opponent at 21-3. 

Rio Gomez (285 lb)

In the first round, Gomez lost by fall to a Barton opponent (Fall 2:58). Then in the first round of consolation, Gomez ended his tournament run with a loss to fellow teammate De'Leon Freeman by fall (4:06). 

Austin Trujillo (285 lb)

In the first round, Trujillo lost by fall to Chase Baker of Friends (1:12). Then in the first round of consolation, Trujillo won by injury default. In the second round of consolation, Trujillo finished his day with a loss by fall to Nicholas Martinez of Colby CC. 

The Jets are back on January 18th where they will host the Jets Duals, beginning at 9 AM.
