WICHITA- The Jets hosted MIAA opponent, Fort Hays State for a Sunday afternoon match up. The Jets are coming off a draw against Nebraska Kearney on Friday. This time out against the Tigers, the Jets fell short 3-0.
How it Happened:
- The Jets offense was aggressive early, finding two shots on goal in the first 16 minutes of play.
Delphine Dzidzinyo Sosu and
Allison Hernandez led the way with the shots on goal, but the Tigers goalkeeper made two saves to keep the game at 0-0. Minutes later,
Maylani Birckbichler would get a shot on goal but again the Tigers goalkeeper made a play.
Carla Apodaca made a huge save with 13 minutes left in the half to hold off the Tigers. However, FHSU was able to convert in the 34th minute to take the 1-0 lead. The Tigers would hold their 1-0 lead heading into the halftime break.
- The Tigers were able to tack on two goals in the second half to extend their lead to 3-0. Taylor Hill of the Tigers netted their two goals in the half, one at the 78 minute mark and one following just three minutes later at the 81st minute mark. The Jets continued to battle for a goal, but ran out of time. The Tigers would take the contest, 3-0.

- The Jets tallied four shots on goal with eight total attempts.
- Birckbichler, Sosu, Hernandez and
Emma Kolbe were the Jets with one SOG a piece.
Newman returns to Wilkins next Friday and Sunday as they host Pittsburg State and Central Missouri.
