WICHITA- The Jets hosted Fort Hays State for a Friday night match-up. The last match-up between the Jets and Tigers went to the Tigers. Tonight's match-up went to the Tigers, 3-1.
How it Happened:
- The Jets started the match getting ahead early, including 2 kills by
Nicole Soto. The Jets and Tigers stayed within 5 points of each other until the Jets took off with 4 consecutive kills. Ahead with the score 15-21, the Jets forced Fort Hays State to take a timeout. Followed by the timeout, Fort Hays came out with momentum to go on a seven-point run. Three kills by Miller would put the Jets past the finish line, taking the set 25-23. This would be the first conference set win for the Jets since the match-up against Arkansas-Fort Smith on September 25th.
- A serving ace by
Hannah Tymitz started the second set strong. Kills by Lamb and Miller, and the serving ace by Tymitz gave the Jets four points in a row, taking an early lead 6-3. Ahead 6-4, the Jets would force a Fort Hays timeout. The Jets would go on a run to take a 12-6 lead, which had the Tigers coming back swinging with a 13-point run to take the lead 22-15. The Tigers would go on to win the second set 25-17.
- The Tigers would take control in the third and fourth sets. The Jets and the Tigers would go into the third set, each with three-point runs early. A five-point run by the Tigers would lead to a Jet timeout. The Tigers took nine out of ten points to take the third set 25-14.
The fourth set continued in the Tigers' favor, with Fort Hays going up 8-4, which led to a Jets timeout. Down 22-11, six Jet points, including a service ace by Miller, were not enough to hold back a fourth set win by the Tigers.
