WICHITA- The Jets hosted Nebraska-Kearney for their second home match-up of the week. The last match-up between the Jets and Lopers went to the Lopers. Tonight's match-up went to the Lopers, 3-0.
How it Happened:
- The Jets started the match with kills by
Isabella Lamb and
Avery Kelley. The Lopers got off to a strong start, quickly taking a 6-15 lead, which led to a Jets timeout. The ranked Lopers powered on strong, earning ten of the next 15 points to take the first set.
- The Jets started the second set scoring early with kills by Kelley,
Sky Miller, and
Hannah Tymitz. An early challenge by the Jets proved pivotal, putting the Jets ahead 4-2. Tied 5-5, kills by Lamb and Miller, an ace by Timitz, and blocks by Lamb and Miller, put the Jets up 10-6, forcing the Lopers to take a timeout. The Lopers came out of the timeout, taking the next three points. A Tymitz kill would break their scoring streak. Consecutive points would put the Lopers up 14-13. The Jets and Lopers kept the score close the entire set, the Jets going up 17-16, forcing a second Lopers timeout. Four straight points to the Lopers would put them up 20-17, forcing a Jets timeout. Four Jets kills by Miller and Kelley would keep the set tied at 22-22. A block by Kelley put the Jets up 23-22. Tied 24-24, the Lopers would take the next two points to take the set 26-24.
- The Lopers started the third set with the ball and four consecutive points. Miller would break the Lopers' run with a kill. Two aces by
Josie Weers were a part of a four-point Jet run. Tied 10-10, kills by Kelley, Miller, and another Weers ace would put the Jets up 15-13. Two separate Loper runs would lead to two Jet timeouts. The Jets would continue to battle, but the Lopers would remain strong, going on to win the third set 18-25.
