WICHITA- Wrestling hosted their home opener against Friends University.
Jaxson Newcomb kicked off the match facing Braydon Pacheco. Pacheco would take the match win with a major decision at 13-0. Next,
Jevin Foust took on Braden Ledford. Foust would battle out a win with a 2-0 decision to give the Jets three points. Friends had the 4-3 early lead. The next three matches would go in the direction of Friends, with one win by major decision in 141 lb, and two falls for six points a piece in 149 lb and 157 lb. Friends would find themselves leading the Jets at 20-3 with five matches to go. The Falcons would extend their lead with a win by decision (3-2) at 165 lb.
Chris Mapp gave the Jets some energy with a win by major decision over Giulio Taglia. Mapp would take the win 16-8, putting the score at 23-7 still in favor of the Falcons. The Falcons took the 184 lb match, with a win by major decision at 14-1 for four points. This would put the team match score at 27-7, Falcons.
Erik Tomanek earned four points for the Jets at the 197 lb with a win by major decision (13-1). This put the team match score at 27-11 with one match to go.
Caleb Wunsch capped the night off at 285 lb with a win by fall in 1:10. This gave the Jets six more points. Friends would take the dual, 27-17.
The Jets hit the road next weekend to compete at the UNK Open and UCM Open.
