Foust places at UNK Open

KEARNEY, Ne.- The Jets traveled to Kearney to compete in the UNK Open. Jevin Foust secured a sixth-place finish for the Jets. 
 
Elite Results: One Placer 
 
Dylan Sheler (125 lb) 

Sheler received a bye in the first round. In the second round, he lost by decision to Carlo Arreola of Southwest Minnesota State, 7–3. This sent him into the consolation bracket, where he fell in round two by fall to D'Andre Brown of Fort Hays State at 4:49. 
 
Jevin Foust (133 lb): 6th Place 
Foust opened his day with a first-round bye. In the second round, he earned a 10–6 decision over Cody Phelps of Wyoming. In the quarterfinals, he kept momentum going with a 9–4 decision win over Devin Gomez of Western Colorado. In the semifinals, Foust dropped a 5–1 decision to Jacob Jones of Air Force. This moved him into the consolation semifinals, where he fell by technical fall (15–0) to Garret Rinken of Northern Iowa. Wrestling for 5th, Foust faced Cody Phelps again, this time falling by decision, 14–7, to finish 6th overall. 
 
Chris Mapp (174 lb) 
Mapp opened with a tough match in round one, falling by technical fall (15–0) to Coy Gunderson of Augustana (SD). In the first round of the consolation bracket, he bounced back with a 6–4 decision win over Dayton Fraser of York (Neb.). In round two, Mapp was defeated by Levi DiCugno of Colorado Mesa, falling by technical fall (16–0). 
 
Erik Tomanek (197 lb) 
Tomanek lost his opening match by fall to Devin Kinlicheenie of New Mexico Highlands at 2:52. After receiving a bye in the first consolation round, he wrestled in round two but fell by technical fall (15–0) to Ryan Patterson of Fort Hays State. 

De'Leon Freeman (285 lb) 
Freeman fell in his opening match by fall to Riley Dean-Butt of Western Colorado at 4:29. After a bye in the first consolation round, he advanced again with a medical forfeit victory over Zeph Sivels of Midland (Neb.). In round three, Freeman earned a dominant 9–0 major decision over Phillip Chobot of New Mexico Highlands. His run ended in consolation round four, where he fell by fall to Soren Herzog of Air Force at 3:28. 

Rio Gomez (285 lb) 
Gomez started his day by falling to Ira Jenkins of Southeast Community College by fall at 2:54. After a bye in the first consolation round, Gomez faced Riley Dean-Butt of Western Colorado, where he fell by major decision, 14–4, ending his tournament run.  
 

Intermediate Results 

Koehn Dietrich (125 lb)
 
Dietrich opened with a 17–2 technical fall loss to Noah Jones of Iowa Western. After a bye in consolation round one, he faced Dariuz Black of Briar Cliff (Iowa), falling by fall at 3:46.

Jaxson Newcomb (125 lb) 
Newcomb started strong with a 5–0 decision win over Isaiah Sisneros of Colorado Mesa. He continued that momentum with an 11–1 major decision over Axxel Landon of Iowa Western in round two. In the quarterfinals, Newcomb fell by technical fall (17–2) to Cadyn Coyle of Nebraska-Kearney. That loss sent him to the consolation round four, where he fell by major decision (10–0) to Dariuz Black of Briar Cliff (Iowa). 
 
Kaven Bartlett (133 lb) 
Bartlett opened with an 11–0 major decision loss to Aaron Ohnoutka of Concordia (Neb.). After receiving a bye in consolation round one, he wrestled Hunter Samora of Colorado School of Mines in round two, falling by decision, 4–0. 

Lukas Hainline (133 lb) 
Hainline dropped his opening match to Aleksander Gunn of CSU-Pueblo by technical fall, 16–0. In consolation round one, he fell by fall (2:08) to Kyle Lewis of Chadron State. 

Alexander Rodriguez (141 lb) 
Rodriguez opened with a fall loss at 4:50 to Kyle Holtberg of Colorado Mesa. After a bye in his first consolation match, Rodriguez competed in round two, where he lost by decision, 17–10, to Jorge Torres of Colorado Mesa. 
 
Keyson Halling (149 lb) 
Halling fell by fall in the opening round to Kade Sammons of Augustana (SD) at 0:41. After receiving a bye in the first consolation round, he fell again in round two by fall to Juell Sanchez of CSU-Pueblo at 1:37. 
 
Romiz Monaco (149 lb) 
Monaco opened with a bye before earning a 5–3 decision in round two over Kaden Markley of Fort Hays State. In the quarterfinals, he dropped a 17–4 major decision to Zion Amerson of Midland (Neb.). Monaco then fell in the consolation round four by technical fall (17–2) to Hudson Loges of Augustana (SD). 
 
Elijah Means (157 lb) 
Means began with a narrow 16–14 decision loss to Collin Quandt (Unattached). In consolation round one, he bounced back with a 12–7 decision win over Adam Ohnoutka of Briar Cliff (Iowa). In round two, Means dominated George Tahdooahnippah of CSU-Pueblo with an 18–2 technical fall. His run ended in round three, where Marcus Caro of Colorado School of Mines won by major decision, 14–2. 

Jayden Ford (165 lb) 
Ford opened strong with a 17–2 technical fall win over Griffin Bohanan of Fort Hays State. In round two, he fell by fall at 1:31 to Brody Arrants of Nebraska-Kearney. In consolation round two, Ford earned a 15–11 decision over Kaden Broer of Northern State. He continued with an 18–1 technical fall over Tobias Larson of New Mexico Highlands in round three. Ford's tournament concluded in round four, where he lost by technical fall (20–3) to Jacob Williams of Northern State. 


The Jets will be back in action at Central Oklahoma on December 3rd at 7 PM.
