TAHLEQUAH, Okla.- Newman Men's Soccer faced off against Northeastern State for a Saturday night match-up. Against the RiverHawks, Newman tied 1-1.
How it Happened:
- Both the Jets and RiverHawks were held scoreless through the first half of play. In the first 45 minutes, the Jets outshot the RiverHawks 4-2. The Jets forced NSU into two saves by the goalkeeper, with
Francisco Pinochet recording two saves in the half for the Jets. The match would be tied at the half, 0-0.
- Following three Jets' shots and two corner kicks in the 62nd minute, the Jets broke the draw in the 63rd minute. A goal by
Gibran Villalobos would put Newman ahead 1-0. The RiverHawks would then score a goal by Ethan VanDusen in the 73rd minute. A shot by
Tomas Melon in the 86th minute of the game was unable to find the back of the net. At the end of 90 minutes, the game would end tied 1-1.
