NEW CASTLE, Del.- The Jets traveled to New Castle Delaware this weekend to compete in the Wildcat classic hosted by Wilmington University.
The Jets would get off to a good start on Friday winning all four of their five-game baker matches. The Jets despite being 4-0 would finish the Day1 in third place in total pins. Day two the Jets came in on a mission to make a run to the lead. The Jets reeled off another five straight wins to go 9-0. After day 2, they would take over the lead averaging 203.5 for the five traditional team games.
The Jets were led by senior
Vanessa Noftsier who averaged 211.6 to finish 4th place individually. Vanessa would also be named to the all tournament team.
The Jets would need 2 wins to capture the title on Sunday. On Sunday, the Jets started the day hot and would reel off the first three games of match one against St. Vincent University. The Bearcats would win game four, but the Jets would fire back with a great fifth game to win the best of seven match 4-1.
The Bearcats would win their next round match to set up the rematch for the title game. This match would go back and forth with the match going to a seventh and deciding game. The Bearcats would prevail and hand the Jets their first loss of the event and a second place finish.
The Jets have qualified for the post season again which makes 22 years in a row. Sectionals will be held March 7-9 to try to qualify for the National Championships to be held in Las Vegas, Nevada on April 14-19.
