WICHITA- The Jets finished out their three games series against the Riverhawks today. The Jets fell short, 15-8.
How it Happened:
- The Riverhawks hopped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning with those five runs being scored on five hits.
Fran Montanez entered the inning and struck out the batter with two outs to end the inning. In the top of the second inning NSU extended their lead to 10-0 with five runs scored on three hits and one error by the Jets. The Riverhawks carried their offense into the top of the third inning where they scored two more runs to take a 12-0 lead off of one hit.

Colby Wilson entered the game for the Jets, facing four batters in the top of the fourth inning and allowing just one hit to keep the game at 12-0. In the bottom of the fourth inning,
Eli Wohl homered to left field to put the Jets on the board and make it a 12-1 game. Wilson continued his solid pitching in the top of the fifth allowing zero runs and just one hit. The Jets were held scoreless in the bottom of the fifth inning. Wilson only faced three batters in the top of the sixth inning. The Jets were able to tack on more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Wohl kicked off the inning with a single to center, he then stole second and advanced to third base after a wild pitch.
Micah Kobuszewski walked to put runners at first and third. Another wild pitch allowed Wohl to score to make it 12-2.
Pierson Gunnell walked to put runners on third and first. An error by the Riverhawks defense allowed
Nicolas Ely to score two runs and reach first base. This made it 12-4 with one out.
Blake Mitchell reached base after getting hit by a pitch.
Louis Coca was next up for the Jets. Coca doubled to left field which scored one to make it 12-5.
Jack Kiser was next, hitting a single to shortstop and cut the deficit to six runs at 12-6. With two outs,
Anthony Cannavino singled which scored the Jets seventh run. The Riverhawks finally escaped the inning, holding the lead at 12-7.
- The Riverhawks were next to score in the top of the eighth inning to take their lead out to seven runs at 13-7. The Jets ended the inning giving up just one hit and one run. The Jets offense couldn't respond in the bottom half of the inning. Then, in the top of the ninth inning the Riverhawks homered to right field to score two more. This took the Riverhawks lead to 15-7. In the bottom of the ninth inning, a double by Cannavino started the offense. Wohl followed this with a ground out that pushed Cannavino to third. Then, a sacrifice fly by Kobuszewski scored Cannavino to make it 15-8. However, the Riverhawks were able to close out the inning with just that one run allowed. The Jets fell short 15-8.
Player Notes:
- Cannavino went 2-5 from the plate with one RBI.
- Wohl went 2-5 from the plate with one RBI and homered for his first home run of the season.

Nicolas Ely led the Jets with 2 RBIs.
- Coca, Kiser, and Kobuszewski all added an RBI apiece.
The Jets travel to Arkansas-Fort Smith next weekend for a three game series starting on Friday February 28th at 4 PM.
