LAKEWOOD, Colo.- The Jets traveled to Colorado to face Colorado Christian for a doubleheader today and a single game tomorrow afternoon. Today the Jets went 1-1 against the Cougars. Game one went to the Jets at 9-3. The Cougars took game two, 6-1.
Game 1: 9 Innings
-The Jets got their bats going early, with two runs in the top of the first inning. A single to center field by
Micah Kobuszewski scored the Jets first run after an error by the outfielder. Then,
Trent Trammell scored Kobuszewski with a single to right field to take the score to 2-0 in favor of the Jets. In the bottom of the first inning, the Cougars hit a two-run home run to make the score even at 2-2. Both the Jets and the Cougars were scoreless for the next two innings. The Jets were next to score with a homer run by
Blake Mitchell in the top of the fourth inning. This homer by Mitchell put the Jets up 3-2. In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Jets went three up three down with one strikeout for
Gio De Graauw.
- The Cougars were able to hold the Jets scoreless in the top of the fifth inning, but the Jets defense also held the Cougars scoreless in the fifth. De Graauw struck out two batters in the fifth inning. Then in the top of the sixth inning, the Jets were held scoreless. After that, in the bottom of sixth, the Jets defense held the Cougars scoreless again. Heading into the seventh inning, the Jets still held the lead at 3-2.
Colby Wilson replaced
Lance Elsen on the mound for Newman. With two runners already on base before he began pitching, Wilson made a big effort to hold the Cougars down to only one run. After seven, the score was tied at 3-3.
Nick Chasey got the Jets offense started in the top of the eighth with a single to center field. After that, he stole second base and got to third after a ground out by Gunnell. Kobuszewski's single to left field scored Chasey to regain the lead. After Trammell earned a walk, both runners advanced on a wild pitch which later led to two runs batted in by
Blake Mitchell's double to left field.
Jack Kiser continued the Jets' batting streak with a single that scored Mitchell to put the score at 7-3 in favor of the Jets. In the bottom of the eighth, Newman held CCU scoreless. Back at the top of the lineup,
Eli Wohl was hit by a pitch to start the ninth and last inning. After that,
Pierson Gunnell was also hit by the pitcher. Kobuszewski's single through the right side loaded the bases for the Jets. A fielder's choice and another single hit by Mitchell scored two more runs for Newman. In the last half inning of the game,
Colby Wilson helped the defense record three consecutive outs to secure a 9-3 Jets win.

- Kobuszewski had 3 hits, 3 runs, and 1 RBI.

Game 2: 7 innings
- The Jets were held scoreless in the top of the first inning. The Cougars were first to score in the bottom of the second inning after starting the inning with a walk. The next batter reached first off of an error by the Jets. Then a double to right field for the Cougars scored the first run of the contest. The next batter grounded out to Trammell at first base, but the runner from third base scored to make the game 2-0. To start the second inning, Kobuszewski walked. Trammell was next up for the Jets, hitting a single to put Newman in scoring position with runners on first and second. Later, a single by Ely scored Kobuszewski for the Jets first run of the contest. This run made the score 2-1, in favor of the Cougars. The Cougars then held the Jets scoreless in the top of the third inning after allowing just a walk in the inning. CCU was able to extend their lead in the top of the third after a three-run home run to right field. This home run made the score 5-1.
- Newman couldn't get the offense rolling in the top of the fourth, being held scoreless in the half inning. The Cougars were able to earn another run in the bottom half of the inning after a single through the right side scored their sixth run to make it 6-1. The top of the fifth inning, Chasey got his bat going after hitting a double down the left field line. However, no other Jet was able to push him across the plate. The Jets defense stepped up, allowing just one hit in the bottom of the fifth inning to help them keep the Cougars scoreless.
Lance Elsen struck out one batter, while the Jets defense turned a double play to end the inning.
- Trammell led off the top of the sixth inning with a single to left field.
Jack Kiser then reached first after a fielder's choice, this advanced Trammell to advance to first. Though the Jets had runners in scoring position, the Cougars turned a double play to get out of the inning, keeping the Jets at one run.
Caden Poor went in to pitch in the bottom of the sixth inning for the Jets, facing three batters and retiring all three batters. The Jets needed to score five runs in the top of the seventh inning to keep the contest going. Chasey walked to get the Jets offense started in the inning, but this walk came with two outs.
Pierson Gunnell was then hit by a pitch to put runners at first and second with two outs. Though the Jets had runners in position but couldn't score any runs. The Cougars took game two, 6-1.

- Trammell led the Jets with two hits on three at bats. Trammell also added five putouts.
- Chasey went 1-3 from the plate with a double.
- Gunnell led the Jets defense with six putouts.
The Jets are back tomorrow at 1 PM (CT) to wrap up their series against the Cougars.
