WICHITA- Baseball hosted the Missouri Southern State Lions in a midweek conference match up. The Lions outlasted the Jets in a ten inning 16-12 win.
How It Happened:
- The Lions were first to score in the top of the third inning. The Lions first hit a home run to make it 1-0. Then a single two batters later scored the Lions second run to give them the 2-0 lead. The Jets took the lead in the bottom of the third.
Hunter Brown was first to reach off a walk.
Trent Trammell then singled that put Brown to third base.
Micah Kobuszewski was next up, drawing a walk to load the bases. A sacrifice fly by
Blake Mitchell scored Brown to make it 2-1. Then, a triple by
Nicolas Ely scored two more Jets runs to put the Jets up 3-2. The Lions tied up the game at 3-3 in the fourth inning with their second home run of the game. The Jets retook the lead in the bottom of the fourth.
Louis Coca started off the inning with a single. Coca then advanced to second on a passed ball during Chasey's at bat. Chasey was then able to double that allowed Coca to advance to third.
Eli Wohl hit a single to center that scored both Coca and Chasey to put the Jets up 5-3.
- In the top of the sixth inning, the Lions cut into the Jets lead with a home run to center field that made the score 5-4. The Jets escaped the inning allowing just one run. In the bottom half of the inning, the Jets were able to add to their lead. A single by Wohl was the first runner on for the Jets. Then, Brown homered to push two more across the plate for the Jets. This made the score 7-4 in favor of NU. The Jets continued to tack onto their lead in the inning. Trammell singled, who later scored the Jets eighth run after a Kobuszewski double. Then, Mitchell doubled to score Kobuszewski to make it a 9-4 Jets lead. In the top of the seventh inning, MSSU added two more runs to make it a 9-6 Jets lead. The Lions responded in the top of the eighth inning and were able to tie it up at 9-9 with two home runs in the inning. In the bottom of the eighth inning, Brown reached on a walk to start the inning. Trammell then singled to right field to put two runners on. The next batter, Kobuszewski, doubled down the left field line and scored two for the Jets to make it an 11-9 lead. Later, Ely singled to the shortstop to make it a three run lead for the Jets at 12-9. The Lions were able to tie it up at 12-12 with a three run home run in the top of the ninth inning. The Jets were unable to end the game in the bottom of the ninth, which forced a tenth inning. In the top of the tenth inning, MSSU scored four runs to make it 16-12 in favor of the Lions. In the bottom of the tenth, a walk drawn by Kobuszewski and a single by Mitchell put two runners on with one out. The Lions were able to hold the Jets off the board in the bottom of the tenth to take the game at 16-12.

- Brown went 2-4 from the plate with one double, one home run, and two RBIs.
- Ely brought in 3 RBIs and hit one triple.
- Wohl hit in two runs with two hits on five at bats.
