MARYVILLE, Mo.- The Jets faced Northwest Missouri on the road this weekend. In the opening game of the series, the Jets fell in 10 innings, 10-6.
How it Happened:
Through three innings, both the Jets and Bearcats were held scoreless. Through three, the Jets were outhitting the Bearcats, 3-1. The Bearcats left eight runners on through three, compared to the Jets four. In the fourth inning, the Bearcats were first to put runs up on the board. A walk followed by a single and a double helped the Bearcats take the 2-0 lead. The Jets cut into this deficit in the top of the fifth inning when
Anthony Cannavino started off the inning by earning a walk. Later,
Micah Kobuszewski singled to left field to score Cannavino. The Bearcats were able to build back a two run deficit with two hits that scored one run in the bottom of the sixth. This made it 3-1 in favor of the Bearcats. In the top of the seventh, Cannavino led off the inning with a single. Later, another RBI by Kobuszewski scored the Jets second run. This cut the Bearcats lead to just one at 3-2. Though the Jets cut into the lead, the Bearcats were able to tack on three runs in the bottom of the seventh to make it 6-2 off of three hits in the inning. In the bottom of the eighth inning,
Blake Mitchell started off the inning reaching first off of an error. Then a single by
Nicolas Ely put runners on first and second. Later, a walk by
Pierson Gunnell loaded the bases for the Jets. Cannavino then stepped up to the plate and connected with a grand slam that tied the game at six all. Though the Jets were able to tie the game and force an extra inning, the Bearcats walked off the game with a grand slam. Game one went to the Bearcats, 10-6.

- Cannavino led the Jets with four RBIs, with a grand slam and went 2-4 from the plate while scoring three times.
- Kobuszewski added two RBIs with three hits on five at bats with one double.
