Pittsburg, Kan.- The Jets finished up their three game series against the Gorillas on Monday afternoon. In game three, the Gorillas took the game 5-1.
How it Happened:
The Gorillas hopped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning after one hit, with one error by the Jets. Pitt State was able to add one more run in the top of the second after holding off the Jets in the bottom of the first. In the top of the second, a single up the middle made it a 2-0 lead for the Gorillas. Pitt State was able to add another in the top of the fourth with a solo home run. This took the PSU lead to 3-0. Pitt State was able to hold the Jets to just one hit through four innings. The Gorillas took their lead to 5-0 scoring a run in the fifth inning and one in the sixth. In the bottom of the sixth, the Jets chipped into the Gorillas lead with a solo home run by
Anthony Cannavino to make it 5-1. In the top of the seventh inning,
Jared Newton and the Jets defense held the Gorillas to no runs and no hits. The Jets defense and pitching staff continued to hold the Gorillas scoreless through the eighth and ninth innings.
Gavin Wakefield faced four batters in the top of the ninth inning, striking out three. However, the Jets offense couldn't respond. The Gorillas would take the win, 5-1.
Player Notes:
- Cannavino batted in the Jets sole run with a home run. This was Cannavino's first home run of the season.

The Jets will head across town on Tuesday to face Wichita State at 11 AM for Kids Day. Then, they will head to NW Missouri for their next conference series on April 11th.
