Jets bested by Shockers in midweek matchup

Baseball will head out to face NW Missouri this weekend

WICHITA- The Jets traveled across town to take on Wichita State on Kids Day with first pitch at 11 AM. The Shockers took the midweek matchup, 14-2. 
 
How it Happened:
- The Shockers added three runs in the top of the first. With two hits, a single and a two run home run to take the early 3-0 lead. WSU was able to add to their lead in the bottom of the second inning after shutting out the Jets in the top of the second. In the inning, the Shockers brought in four runs off of three hits to make it a 7-0 game. Louis Coca recorded the Jets first hit of the game with a single that led off the third inning. Coca advanced to second after a wild pitch to put himself in scoring position with no outs. Later in the inning, Eli Wohl drew a walk that put runners on first and second. Though the Jets had two runners on, the offense couldn't bring in the runs. In the bottom of the inning, the Jets held the Shockers to just one run off of one hit, taking the score 8-0. 
- Micah Kobuszewski led off the fourth inning with a single to right field and Blake Mitchell added a single in the inning. The Shockers defense was able to hold the Jets to just those two hits and no runs in the inning. WSU added two runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a 10-0 lead. In the fifth inning, the Shockers took their lead to 14-0 after four runs off of three hits. Finally, in the bottom of the seventh inning the Jets added their first runs of the contest. Mitchell singled to left field to get the Jets going in the inning. Then, Jack Kiser singled to center which advanced Mitchell to second. The Shockers then had a fielding error which allowed Coca to reach first, and scored Mitchell for the Jets first run. Later, Thomas Munn singled to left field that scored Kiser. The Jets would only be able to score two runs in the seventh to end the game with a final score of 14-2. 
 
Player Notes:
- Mitchell went 2-3 from the plate, scoring once.
- Munn had the Jets sole RBI with 1-3 hitting. 
 
The Jets hit the road this weekend for their series against the NW Missouri Bearcats starting on Friday, April 11th.
