WEATHERFORD, Okla.- Newman Women's Soccer continued their non-conference slate on the road against Southwestern Oklahoma State.
How it Happened:
The Jets struck early, opening the scoring in the 3rd minute when Emma Kolbe delivered a corner kick to Delphine Sosu, who headed it into the net for a 1-0 lead. Just 11 minutes later, a steal from Kolbe set up Sosu with a one-on-one chance in the box, which she buried to secure her brace and extend the Jets' lead to 2-0.
SWOSU responded in the 19th minute, cutting the deficit to 2-1. Despite being outshot 12-7 in the first half, the Jets held the lead thanks to goalkeeper Carla Apodaca, who tallied eight saves before the break.
The Bulldogs found the equalizer in the 55th minute, then took the lead just two minutes later to go up 3-2. They added another goal in the 73rd minute and sealed the match with a fifth score in the 83rd. The Jets ultimately fell, 5-2.
