WICHITA - Men's Soccer opened conference play hosting the Northeastern State Riverhawks.
How it Happened:
In the first 45 minutes of play, the Jets outshot the Riverhawks 5-4, with two Jets shots on target. In the 39th minute,
Eduardo Dos Santos connected with the back of the net to take the 1-0 lead heading into the half. Dos Santos's goal was assisted by
Kei Nagakura and
Daiki Okada.
Out of the halftime break, the Jets' offense rolled to an early goal with
Gabriel Dias Juliani connecting.
Gustavo Dias Juliani was credited with the assist on the Jets' second goal. This goal gave Newman the 2-0 lead with 40 minutes to play. NSU cut into the Jets' lead in the 58th minute to make it 2-1. Later, Dias Juliani netted his second goal to secure a brace on the day and give Newman a 3-1 lead. Minutes later, the Riverhawks connected for their second goal to make it 3-2 in the 69th minute.
Kei Nagakura pushed the Jets to a 4-2 lead in the 77th minute with his first goal of the game, assisted by both Dias Juliani brothers. The Jets closed out the remainder of the half, with Newman taking the contest 4-2.
