EDMOND, Okla.- The Jets hit the road to face the Bronchos of Central Oklahoma. Newman came up short, 74-57.
How it Happened:Â
-The Jets opened up action with a Cyrus Shaw jump shot. M. Willenborg started the action for the Bronchos. The Jets would then go on a 6-0 run taking the lead and forcing a Broncho timeout. Following the timeout, the Bronchos would score a three-point basket to regain their momentum tying the score at 10 with 13:48 left in the first half. The Bronchos and the Jets would then trade off baskets until the Jets would take the lead by four. A dunk by Wright would keep the lead for the Jets 22-19, the Bronchos would then score, but the Jets answered with a three by Joe tying the game at 22. With multiple lead changes Newman would stay in front by one with 7:40 left in the first half. Following the timeout, the Jets would extend their lead with a layup by McClure. The Bronchos would answer with nine points of their own regaining the lead by six. Newman continued to fight offensively with baskets by McClure and Wright. The Bronchos would stay in front with the score 38-33 at the half. Wright recorded five blocks in the first half. Cyrus Shaw led the Jets with nine points.Â
-Newman opened the half with free throws by McClure and Joe, cutting the Broncho lead to just one. Scores were traded off between the Jets and the Bronchos with layups. A three by McClure at the 17:21 minute mark in the second half gave the Jets the lead again making it 44-42. Central Oklahoma would then go on a 6-0 run taking the lead again by four. A jumper by Somerhalder got the action started again for the Jets with 13:12 left in the half. Three-point baskets by the Bronchos would extend their lead making it a ten point game. Cyrus Shaw kept the Jets offense going with eight minutes to play in the game. With 7:37 left in the game, Terell Wright recorded his seventh block of the game. Wright would break the record for the most blocks in a single game, which was previously six. Free throws by Joe and McClure would cut the Broncho lead to eleven. M. Willenborg continued the Bronchos offense making the score 70-55 with 4:15 left in the game. The Jets would continue to fight offensively, but could not keep up with the Bronchos. Central Oklahoma would take the game 74-57.Â
