WICHITA, Kan. — Newman defeated Harding 2-0 on Thursday. The Jets fired 26 shots in the game, well above their season average of 12.73. A first-half stretch from 20:40 to 29:06 featured five Jets shots and five corners, with the score moving from 1-0 to 2-0.

The Jets opened with steady pressure, getting early shots from
Kaisei Nagayoshi,
Ailton Fagner Da Silva and
Gabriel Sasso before
Yohsuke Ono hit the right woodwork at 11:48.
Io Shono broke through at 13:36 to put the Jets ahead 1-0. It was Shono's first goal of the season. The Jets continued to press with another Da Silva shot saved by Dillon Hart at 20:40. After three corner kicks,
Gael Gonzalez scored from
Daiki Okada at 25:57 to extend the lead to 2-0, and the Jets followed with more chances from
Skylur Staley, Ono and Nagayoshi. Da Silva hit the left woodwork at 37:06, while Harding's lone late shot from Noah Legge went right before the half ended.
With the Jets ahead 2-0, the second half's first meaningful chances came from the Jets as Shono forced a save from Hart at 49:58, Newman earned a corner moments later, and Nagayoshi and Ono added attempts before the 54th minute. Harding answered with shots from Zech Christman, Hayden Teixeira and Reik Barrack, but the Jets continued to create looks through Da Silva,
Max Wetzel, Staley, Okada and Ono, with Hart making another save on Okada at 64:16. Harding pushed back through Quin Brice and Christman, and
Guilherme Borges made saves at 68:09 and 69:44 before Harding added more late pressure, including a corner at 84:50 and a shot from Nojus Grudis that went wide. Newman generated a late sequence of its own with Okada's saved shot, an 88:19 corner and Nagayoshi's attempt, and Borges stopped Christman at 89:27 as the Jets finished off the 2-0 win.
