WICHITA- The Jets hosted Washburn for a Saturday afternoon matchup, the second game of the three game series. In the second game, the Jets fell 15-6.
How it Happened:
- A two run home run in the top of the first inning by the Ichabods would put WU on top early, 2-0. Two more would be added by the Ichabods in the top of the third inning, pushing their lead to 4-0. Through three innings, the Jets tallied just two hits.
- The Ichabods continued to add onto their lead, scoring three more in the top of the fourth to take a 7-0 lead. The Jets offense would finally get rolling in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Anthony Cannavino led the inning off with a walk.
Justin Birch followed this with a single that moved Cannavino to second. Later in the inning,
Riley Kujawa singled to center that scored Cannavino.
Thomas Munn followed this up with a single to left field that advanced Kujawa to second and scored Birch.
Nicolas Ely then batted in Kujawa and Munn to take the score to 7-4 to end the fourth inning. The next score came in the top of the sixth by the Ichabods, scoring five to extend their lead out to 12-4. The Jets batted around one run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Ely reached on a single and would later score after Morris connected with a double to right field. This run by the Jets cut the deficit to 12-5.
- In the bottom half of the seventh, the Jets cut into the Ichabods lead after scoring one run from a single by Kaden Dawson that scored Cannavino who walked earlier in the inning. This made the score 12-6 heading into the eighth inning. The Ichabods tacked on three more runs in the top of the ninth to take a 15-6 lead. The Jets were unable to close the deficit. The Jets fell, 15-6.
Player Notes:
- Ely led the Jets with two RBIs.
- Munn went 2-4 from the plate with one double and one RBI.
The Jets close out the series against Washburn, with first pitch Sunday at 12 PM.
