WICHITA- Baseball hosted MSU Denver for a Saturday double header. The Jets dropped both games, 16-1 and 9-2.
Game One: NU 1, MSU Denver 16
- The Roadrunners would lead early, scoring three runs to kick off the top of the first inning. The next score would come from MSU Denver in the top of the fourth, extending their lead to 4-0 after two innings. Two hits in the top of the third would lead MSU Denver to tack on one more run, taking the 5-0 lead. Through three innings, the Roadrunners held the Jets hitless.
- A five run fourth inning for MSU Denver pushed the Roadrunners lead to 10-0. MSU Denver pitcher Brayden McCollough would pitch a perfect five innings of baseball with nine strikeouts. Leading the Roadrunners to hold the 10-0 lead heading into the sixth inning. A home run by the Roadrunners in the top of the sixth would drive their lead to 11-0. In the same inning, they would tack on two more to take a 13-0 lead. In the bottom half of the sixth,
Anthony Cannavino batted the first Jets hit of the day with a double to left field. Later, a single by
Carter Andreozzi would bat around Cannavino to score the Jets first run. This would be the sole run for the Jets. MSU Denver would take game one, 16-1.

Game Two: NU 2, MSU Denver 9

Alex Gillig and the Jets defense shut down the Roadrunners offense in the first two innings, keeping the score at 0-0. The first runs would come from MSU Denver in the top of the third inning with a two run home run, taking the 2-0 lead. With bases loaded in the top of the fourth, the Roadrunners earned a walk to push one more across the plate. This took the score to 4-0 in favor of MSU Denver. The Jets were able to tack on a run in the bottom of the fourth.
Beau Dalian led the inning off with a walk. This was followed by a walk drawn by
Riley Kujawa and a hit by pitch by
Louis Coca. With the bases loaded,
Anthony Cannavino would hit a sacrifice fly to left field that scored Dalian. This closed the gap to 3-1, still in favor of MSU Denver.
- Two errors and three hits by MSU Denver in the top of the seventh allowed the Roadrunners to add four runs. This made the difference 7-1. The Jets responded in the bottom half of the inning. Kaku started it off with a walk.
Justin Birch would then rope a double to center field to score Kaku from first. This cut the deficit to 7-2. Two more runs would be added in the top of the eighth by MSU Denver to make it 9-2.

The Jets are back tomorrow to wrap up the weekend series against the Roadrunners at 12 PM.
