WICHITA- The Jets continued their home stand for a Saturday afternoon match-up against Pittsburg State. The Gorillas took the game 57-95.
How it Happened:
- The Gorillas kicked off the game with eight straight points. Thatcher McClure would break the Gorilla run with a layup. The Gorillas would continue their run with 16 more points to put them up 24-2. Layups by Terrell Wright and Sam Somerhalder would slow down the Pittsburg surge. Pitt State would continue on strong, outscoring the Jets in the first half 51-22
- McClure got things started for the Jets in the second half with a tip-in layup. Cyrus Shaw quickly followed with a fast-break layup to bring the Jets within 25 points of the Gorillas. Aime Rutayisire and Jacob Joe both had three-pointers, but they would not be enough to hold off the Gorillas, who went on to win 95-57.
Player Notes:
- Somerhalder led the Jets with 21 points, shooting 64.3% from field goal range, and added six rebounds and three assists.
- Cyrus Shaw had 12 points and three assists.
- Wright had 7 rebounds and shot 2-2 from field goal range.
The Jets head back on the road to face Nebraska-Kearney on Thursday and Fort Hays State on Saturday.
